Michael is a graduate of the University of Waterloo where he obtained his Honours Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree in 2009. Shortly after, he attended Queen's University School of Graduate Studies where he received his Master of Environmental Studies in 2012. He attended the University of Ottawa for law school, and received his J.D. in 2014. Michael was called to the bar in 2015 and joined McHugh Whitmore LLP in the same year.

Michael is developing a practice in corporate and commercial, real estate and estate planning.

Michael has been the recipient of the R. Samuel McLaughlin Fellowship, Queen’s Graduate Award Scholarship, and the Environmental Studies Sustainability Award Scholarship. Michael’s studies have led to numerous lecturing opportunities, interviews and publications including the Ecocity World Summit, Queen’s Environmental Studies Seminar Series, TED Talks and CBC radio. Currently, Michael sits on the board of Epilepsy South Central Ontario.

In the summer of 2010, Michael bicycled across Canada. He continues to be an avid cyclist and enjoys camping, running, travelling and hiking.
